Bring Nature Home: Part 2

1

As spring sets in not being able to get outside can be difficult right now. The Van Cortlandt Park Alliance wants you to brighten up your space, bring some spring inside, and tie science and art together with this hands-on activity. With a few basic materials you and your child can learn about the parts of a flower while building a flower model. Connect the activity to reading or writing about the parts of a plant or extend the activity to talk about insects. Remember to take pictures and post them on your social media and tag us @vcpalliance to brighten things up.  Today’s Activity: Straw Flower

We also wanted to share one of our favorite resources for fun hands-on environmental activities, Project Learning Tree PLT), and our favorite family activity from PLT: Tree Cookies.
