Programs Overview
The programs of the Van Cortlandt Park are the core component of our mission to preserve, support, and promote the recreational, ecological, and historical value of Van Cortlandt Park. We offer an array of programs to introduce Van Cortlandt Park, and all it has to offer, to the community.
From July 1st, 2018 to June 30th, 2019, the Friends of Van Cortlandt Park and the Van Cortlandt Park Conservancy served 7,497 people including:
- 1,912 volunteers for garden, forest, wetland, and trail restoration projects;
- 2,107 students who attended one or more Van Cortlandt Adventures educational programs;
- 48 Bronx high school interns who worked and were paid (11 completed an accredited college course at CUNY Lehman College) in summer and school year internships, including Urban Eco-Teens and the Garden 2 Market Internship, and;
- 3,430 children and adults participated in community programs, including Barefoot Dancing, Youth Run Farm Stand, Enslaved People Program and Hikes.
This year, as the Van Cortlandt Park Alliance, we are looking forward to growing and evolving our programs to reach a wider audience. We hope you will join us in Van Cortlandt Park soon.
