We may not be out working in our beloved Van Cortlandt Park, but we are hard at work maintaining our programs and finding new ways to continue bringing the park to the thousands of New Yorkers who consider it their backyard.
Our enterprising staff is meeting the challenge head on. They have set up Google Classrooms, used Zoom, and deployed other social media to continue to train our Urban Eco-Teen Leadership Interns (pictured here), recruit additional underrepresented high school students for our 2020 summer programs, and maintain contact with volunteers and other supporters.
We developed a blog post series called Bring Nature Home – easy and exciting activities for parents to do inside with their kids via a weekly blog post. We have had a great response to this series. If you are looking for fun and educational activities to do with your housebound family, join us at vancortlandt.org/whats-new/blog.
Last week, knowing how much Van Cortlandt Park means to the community, we set up a VCP Photo of the Day on Instagram to bring the Park to the people. We are sharing our heretofore unseen photos and asking our followers to share their favorite park photos as well. Please join us on Instagram to see our daily posting. Please share your favorite photo of Van Cortlandt Park with us by emailing vcpalliance@gmail.com to have your picture featured.
