Woodlawn Forest Restoration

Join us for a special weekend edition of stewardship in the Woodlawn section of Van Cortlandt Park! Volunteers like you play a vital role in protecting this unique urban ecosystem.
Tasks: Removing invasive species (like multiflora rose and bittersweet), trail care, and planting native woodland species.
No experience needed! All tools and gloves provided. Learn about plant ID, forest and pollinator ecology, and restoration techniques from experienced staff.
WHERE TO MEET:
Outside the handball courts at Woodlawn Playground
(East side of Van Cortlandt Park)
WHAT TO BRING:
- Long sleeves and pants (canvas or denim recommended)
- Sturdy, closed-toe shoes
- Reusable water bottle and snacks
- Sunscreen and bug spray (recommended)
- A spirit of stewardship and curiosity
