Join the Van Cortland Park Alliance and New York Mycological Society on a fall mushroom walk into Van Cortlandt Park’s lovely and extensive woodlands where we’ll encounter all types of fascinating fall fungi – from cap-and-stem fungi to polypores, puffballs, jellies, crusts and even tiny ascomycetes. Learn about mushroom lifestyles, find out what’s toxic and what’s not and get tips on mushroom identification. Come prepared for off-road walking. Kids welcome!
We will meet on the parkside of W. 242nd Street and Broadway near the last stop of the 1 train.
