Tibbetts Brook Water Monitoring
Bimonthly Wednesdays meeting at 9am
Come learn about the health of Tibbetts Brook and Van Cortlandt Lake while assisting in gathering data. Open to adults, 18 and over only. Please contact John at john@vancortlandt.org to learn more.

Volunteer Trails Restoration Crew
First Saturdays through December, from 10am to 3pm
Crew Members will work alongside trails professionals, developing skills in various areas of trail construction while improving the trails in Van Cortlandt Park. Projects include building boardwalks, clearing waterbars and drainage swells and installing drainage dips. No prior trails experience is necessary; all training will be offered in an on-the-job format. Interested? Contact john@vancortlandt.org for more information. Must be 18 years of age to join.

Natural History Hikes
Saturdays October 12th, November 2nd and December 6th meeting at 10am
Join our Field Scientist and Research Coordinator, Alex, for a hike while discussing topics ranging from the ecology of organisms to whole ecosystems using Van Cortlandt Park as our laboratory. Local scientists will join as guest presenters. Email alex@vancortlandt.org for more information and meeting locations.
October 12th: Focus on Fungi  Learn how to identify species of mushrooms in VCP and about the role of fungi in urban parks.  Meeting in front of the Woodlawn Playground at Van Cortlandt Park East just south of Kepler Avenue.

Wetland Volunteer Day
Saturday October 19th meeting at 10am
Did you know there are only 98 acres of freshwater wetlands left in the Bronx and 56 of them are in Van Cortlandt Park? Volunteers will help with native species planting, removal of non-native invasive plants and trash clean up within Tibbetts Wetlands.  Meet at the Nature Center, enter the Park at Broadway and W. 246th Street.

 Van Cortlandt Lake Clean-Up
Saturday November 16th meeting at 10am
Join us as we care for Van Cortlandt Lake by removing trash from the lake and its shoreline. Meet in front of the Van Cortlandt Park Golf House to grab waders and supplies before heading out to clean up.

Family Harvest Day
Saturday November 16th from 10am to 1pm
Come dig through our compost bins, try a new veggie, clear our planting beds for the winter and participate in some gardening activities with your kids. Good for the whole family ages 5 and up. Smaller kids need adult supervision. Held at The Garden & Compost Site- enter the Park at Broadway and Mosholu Ave.

Woodlawn Beautification Day
Saturday November 16th meeting at 10am
Join us, Women of Woodlawn and the Woodlawn Taxpayers Association as we continue to care for the Van Cortlandt Park East border of the Park. Volunteers are needed to plant daffodil bulbs along with native wildflowers and grasses.  Meet in front of the Woodlawn Playground at Van Cortlandt Park East and Kepler Avenue.

Our events are open to the general public. RSVP’s are encouraged for individuals or small groups. Space is limited so we ask that groups contact us at least 2 weeks in advance to schedule.
