Bimonthly Wednesdays meeting at 9am

Village Community Boathouse is back with FREE rowboating at Van Cortlandt Lake. Rowboats for small groups will be available to paddle around the lake. Children must be accompanied by adults. First come first served. Meet at the southern end of Van Cortlandt Lake enter the park at Van Cortlandt Park South and Bailey Avenue.
Tuesdays July 9th through August 20th from 10am to 1pm
Volunteers are needed to help us maintain our Garden & Compost Site. Help weed, water and harvest our 800 square feet of vegetable beds and stir and sift our compost. All produce grown is donated to those in need. Meet at the Garden & Compost Site- enter the Park at Broadway and Mosholu Avenue.
Summer Youth Run Farm Stand- Limited weeks!
The Youth Run Farm Stand will be back for summer 2019. Featuring new teen interns leading weekly cooking demonstrations and locally sourced, sustainably grown produce its sure to be the highlight of your week. Just get their fast- this season will be a limited market with only 7 weeks scheduled right now. The market is located in the Train Park at the corner of Orloff Ave and Gale Place and will run on . We accept cash, credit, EBT, FMNP, WIC farmer market checks and Health Bucks.
Volunteer Trails Restoration Crew
First Saturdays, September to December, from 10am to 3pm
Crew Members will work alongside trails professionals, developing skills in various areas of trail construction while improving the trails in Van Cortlandt Park. Projects include building boardwalks, clearing waterbars and drainage swells and installing drainage dips. No prior trails experience is necessary; all training will be offered in an on-the-job format. Interested? Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Natural History Hikes
First Saturdays, September to December, meeting at 10am
Join our Field Scientist and Research Coordinator, Alex, for a hike while discussing topics ranging from the ecology of organisms to whole ecosystems using Van Cortlandt Park as our laboratory. Local scientists will join as guest presenters. Email email@example.com for more information and meeting locations.
Saturday September 14th from 2pm to 7pm
Join us for this fun fundraiser on Saturday September 14th and come see why VCP is Where NYC Hikes.
Hikes start at 2pm: Hikers will have the option to go on a 4-5 mile hike throughout the park OR a 2 mile leisurely nature or history hikes. All hikes will be led by guides and take about 2 hours. All registered participants will receive a VCPA t-shirt.
Oktoberfest is from 4-7pm: Attendees will receive a Hike-toberfest Souvenir Mug, eat German Food by Loreley Restaurant & Biergarten and enjoy local beers served by the Bronx Beer Hall. Yard games will be setup to challenge your friends as you hang out on the Van Cortlandt House Museum Lawn.
Fall Volunteer Kickoff
Saturday September 21st meeting at 10am
Join us as we kickoff our fall volunteer season with a volunteer event in each corner of Van Cortlandt Park. Volunteers will receive a Van Cortlandt Park Alliance giveaway while supplies last.
Projects and Meeting Locations:
- NW Section: Garden & Compost Site: help tend to our 800 square feet of vegetable beds and stir and sift our compost bins. Enter the Park at Mosholu Avenue and Broadway.
- SW Section: Wetland Restoration: remove invasive plants and plant native species in Tibbetts Brook Wetlands. Meet at the Nature Center, enter the Park at Broadway and W. 246th
- SE Section: Jerome Wetland Walk: help us conduct an English Ivy pull as remove this invasive species from our wetlands. Meet on the Park side of Jerome Avenue at the last stop of the 4 train at Jerome and Bainbridge Avenues.
- NE Section: Woodlawn Beautification Project: join us and Women of Woodlawn as we continue to care for the Van Cortlandt Park East border of the Park. Meet in front of the Woodlawn Playground at Van Cortlandt Park East and Kepler Avenue.
Wetland Volunteer Day
Saturday October 19th meeting at 10am
Did you know there are only 98 acres of freshwater wetlands left in the Bronx and 56 of them are in Van Cortlandt Park? Volunteers will help with native species planting, removal of non-native invasive plants and trash clean up within Tibbetts Wetlands. Meet at the Nature Center, enter the Park at Broadway and W. 246th Street.
Van Cortlandt Lake Clean-Up
Saturday November 16th meeting at 10am
Join us as we care for Van Cortlandt Lake by removing trash from the lake and its shoreline. Meet in front of the Van Cortlandt Park Golf House to grab waders and supplies before heading out to clean up.
Family Harvest Day
Saturday November 16th from 10am to 1pm
Come dig through our compost bins, try a new veggie, clear our planting beds for the winter and participate in some gardening activities with your kids. Good for the whole family ages 5 and up. Smaller kids need adult supervision. Held at The Garden & Compost Site- enter the Park at Broadway and Mosholu Ave.

Our events are open to the general public. RSVP’s are encouraged for individuals or small groups.
