Attention Middle School Students! This spring, explore how nature and humans interact within Van Cortlandt Park. Reaching back into the history of the park, and moving through its current uses, participants will learn about the work VCPA is doing to preserve the park as a space for humans to enjoy and nature to thrive.
Urban Junior Naturalists will meet on Tuesdays from 4:30 pm to 6 pm from April 27 to June 8, 2021. Each week, participants will explore a different section of the park and complete a hands-on project. Topics include: Acknowledgement of the Indigenous Lenape people; history of the Enslaved People who lived on and worked the land; Urban farming; Natural history; Freshwater ecology; and much more!
At-home rainy day activities are provided (class will be held via Google Meets in the event of rain or inclement weather). All supplies are included.
Cost per student is $100 for the 7-week program.
Register now, we are limited to 10 spots to ensure proper social distancing.
