Join us for Woodlawn Wednesdays\, where volunteers like you play a vital role in preserving this important urban ecosystem. \nYou might: \nRemove Invasive Species: Tackle harmful plants like multiflora rose\, bush honeysuckle\, bittersweet\, and Japanese angelica tree that threaten our native biodiversity. \nMaintain Trails: Keep paths clear\, safe\, and welcoming for all park visitors. \nNo experience needed! We provide all tools and gloves. You’ll also learn about forest ecology\, plant ID\, and restoration techniques. \nRSVP Now. \nWhen: \nWednesday November 5\, 2025 meeting at 9am and Wednesdays December 10 and 17 meeting at 10am \nWhere: \nMeet outside the handball courts at Woodlawn Playground \n(Located on the east side of Van Cortlandt Park) \nWhat to Bring: \nLong sleeves\, long pants (denim or canvas recommended)\, and a hat \nSturdy\, closed-toe shoes \nWater bottle and snacks \nSunscreen and bug spray (recommended) \nYour enthusiasm for conservation! \nGroups of 6 or more must email noel@vancortlandt.org to discuss scheduling their own event. \nVolunteer Policy for Minors \n• Ages 15 – 17 \nA parent or guardian must sign and submit a volunteer waiver. Once the waiver is on file\, the minor may participate without an accompanying adult. \n• Ages 12 – 14 \nA parent or guardian must accompany the minor and remain on-site for the entire project. \n• Under 12 \nChildren may volunteer only at events specifically labeled family-friendly and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Time: 9 am sharp; work begins at 9:15 am \nUpcoming Activities Include: Clearing debris and overgrowth; Ensuring trail safety and accessibility; Desire line closures \nWhat to Bring: Comfortable\, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toed shoes. Bring water and a snack. \nWhy Join Us? Contribute to the vitality and safety of the trails you love! Engage with fellow community members\, learn about trail maintenance\, and enjoy the satisfaction of hands-on work in the great outdoors.
