DESCRIPTION:Van Cortlandt Park contains 640 acres of forest and wetlands. You can make a difference and help maintain this important ecosystem. \nVolunteers will help VCPA staff remove angelica tree (Aralia elata) from the Northeast forest of Van Cortlandt Park. This non-indigenous invasive plant harms the biodiversity of the forest\, and its spines are not nice to walk into while walking on the trails. Learn more about the plant\, invasive removal techniques\, and ecology of the park while out with VCPA staff. \nWe will meet in front of the Woodlawn Playground at 9am and walk to the worksite from there. VCPA will provide gloves and tools. Please dress for the weather.\nSpace is limited and pre-registration is required.\nHot cocoa will be provided.\n\nFees \nPlease purchase 1 ticket for every person attending. Each person will take home a wreath. \n\nGeneral Admission (age 17+): $25*\nJunior Admission (age 10 to 16): $15*\n\nMust be accompanied by a paid adult with a General Admission ticket.\n\n\n\n*Ticket price includes materials fee. \nCancellations/Refunds \n\nTicket sales will not be refunded and will be considered a donation to Van Cortlandt Park Alliance if you cannot attend the workshop on December 10th. DESCRIPTION:Recycle your holiday tree by bringing it to Van Cortlandt Park\, where the VCP Forest Restoration Crew will chip it into mulch!  This event will take place on Saturday January 7 and Sunday January 8 from 10am to 2pm in the “free lot” near the Van Cortlandt Golf Course; as you drive in from Bailey Avenue\, it will be the first parking lot on your left. \nTrees can be dropped off starting December 26th\, 2022.
