DESCRIPTION:Nice holiday weekends bring lots of visitors to the park. Lots of visitors make a mess! Volunteers are needed to help keep the park tidy. \n\n\n\n\nJoin the Van Cortlandt Park staff in cleaning up the Park after holiday weekends. \nHelp Van Cortlandt Park staff clean up trash after holidays this year: \nMonday\, June 22 (after Father’s Day weekend)\nMonday\, July 6 (after July 4th weekend)\nTuesday\, September 8 (after Labor weekend) \nMeeting at 9am in front of the Van Cortlandt Golf Course Clubhouse – enter the park at Van Cortlandt Park South and Bailey Avenue. \nWe will provide gloves and materials to help keep this park in tip-top shape. \nRSVP Now.

DESCRIPTION:Help restore the beautiful woodlands of Van Cortlandt Park’s east side! Join us for Woodlawn Wednesdays\, where volunteers like you play a vital role in preserving this important urban ecosystem. \nYou might: \nRemove Invasive Species: Tackle harmful plants like multiflora rose\, bush honeysuckle\, bittersweet\, and Japanese angelica tree that threaten our native biodiversity. \nMaintain Trails: Keep paths clear\, safe\, and welcoming for all park visitors. \nNo experience needed! We provide all tools and gloves. You’ll also learn about forest ecology\, plant ID\, and restoration techniques. \nWhen: \nWednesdays\, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Please arrive on time – we depart for the worksite by 9:15 AM) \nWhere: \nMeet outside the handball courts at Woodlawn Playground (Located on the east side of Van Cortlandt Park) \nWhat to Bring: \nLong sleeves\, long pants (denim or canvas recommended)\, and a hat\nSturdy\, closed-toe shoes\nWater bottle and snacks\nSunscreen and bug spray (recommended)\nYour enthusiasm for conservation! \nRSVP Now. \nSpace is limited to 30 volunteers each week. \nGroups of 6 or more must email noel@vancortlandt.org to discuss scheduling their own event. \n  \nVolunteer Policy for Minors \n• Ages 15 – 17 \nA parent or guardian must sign and submit a volunteer waiver.
