Saturday April 25th, 2015 at 10am
242nd Street and Broadway near the last stop of the 1 train
Get out for a hike and help us raise funds for the restoration of Van Cortlandt Park’s spectacular hiking trails. Similar to a Walk-a-Thon, we are asking you to seek out supporters to sponsor your hike for this rain or shine event.
Participants can choose one of three hiking routes (1-5 miles) the day of the event.
$25 Registration Fee includes a Hike-a-Thon t-shirt and an expertly guided hike of our beautiful park.
Register by Wednesday April 22nd, 2015.
The first 100 participants to register and raise $100 or more ($50 if under 18) in pledges will receive a goody bag.
Once you register you will receive additional information on collecting pledges.
You can still support this year’s Hike-a-thon without attending the event, Click Here to make a secure online donation to help restore hiking trails in Van Cortlandt Park.
Last year, over 90 people came out for the Friends’ 5th Annual Hike-a-Thon and raised over $9,000 for the restoration of the hiking trails this year. Thank you to everyone who participated and/or helped to support the event.
With last year’s donations our Volunteer Trails Crew made improvements on many trails including:
– Repaired drainage ditches along the Old Croton Aqueduct
– Installed waterbars on the Cross Country Course
– Installed check dams on the John Muir Trail
– Closed unofficial trails, aka desire lines, in the park
Thank you to our 2015 Supporters (To Date)
