Youth Run Farm Stands
Wednesdays from 2-7pm from July 12th- November 1st– at the Train Park at Orloff Ave and Gale Place.
Thursdays from 12-7pm from July 6th- November 16th– on the Corner of E. Gun Hill Road and DeKalb Ave.
Wednesdays will include healthy cooking demonstrations and hands-on activities for the community. Thursday’s market is being held in partnership with GrowNYC. Both markets will accept Cash, EBT/Credit/Debit, Healthbucks, WIC and FMNP checks. Hike, Eat, Drink & Celebrate with Friends during our new fun fundraiser for the hiking trails of Van Cortlandt Park. Come see why VCP is Where NYC Hikes. Hike starts at 2pm and attendees will participate in a 2 hour 4-5 mile hike or a 2 mile leisurely hike. Oktoberfest is from 4pm-7pm where there will be German food by Loreley Restaurant & Biergarten, beer and fun yard games! Meet at the Van Cortlandt House Museum. Fall Kickoff Volunteer Event
Saturday September 30th meeting at 10am
Join us as we kickoff a season of volunteering with projects throughout Van Cortlandt Park:
Garden & Compost Site Weeding & Harvesting: meet at the FVCP Compost Site- enter the Park at Broadway and Mosholu Ave.
Woodlawn Playground Beautification: meet at Van Cortlandt Park East and just south of Kepler Avenue.
Trail Restoration: meet inside the park near the last stop of the 1 train at Broadway and W. 242nd Street.
Volunteer Trails Restoration Crew
Saturdays October 7th and November 4th from 10am to 3pm
Crew Members will work alongside trails professionals, developing skills in various areas of trail construction while improving the various trails in Van Cortlandt Park. Projects include building boardwalks, clearing waterbars and drainage swells and installing drainage dips. No prior trails experience is necessary; all training will be offered in an on-the-job format. Interested? Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. 25th Anniversary Celebration: Honoring our Founders

Join us as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Friends of Van Cortlandt Park and Honor our Founders: Felicity Nitz, Frances Beinecke, Susan Morgenthau, Elizabeth Scheuer, Jane Sokolow and Sybil Wailand. Keynote Speaker Bronx Borough President Rubén Díaz Jr.. Event hosted by Meredith Vieira. Our guests will enjoy dinner, drinks and dessert out on the deck of the Van Cortlandt Lake House overlooking Van Cortlandt Lake. Fall Wetland Volunteers Days
Saturdays October 21st and November 4th meeting at 10am
Did you know there are only 98 acres of freshwater wetlands left in the Bronx and 56 of them are in Van Cortlandt Park? Volunteers will help with native species planting, removal of non-native invasive plants and trash clean up within Tibbetts Wetlands. Meet inside the park near the last stop of the 1 train at Broadway and W. 242nd Street.
Get Active Hiking Series in VCP
Please wear appropriate shoes and bring plenty of water and a snack for the hike. All hikes meet at 10am.

Woodlawn Playground Beautification

Join the Friends and the Women of Woodlawn as we continue our efforts to beautify the area around Woodlawn Playground. Meet at Van Cortlandt Park East and just south of Kepler Avenue.
End of Season Celebration
Saturday November 18th from 10am to 1pm
Help with our final harvest to prepare the garden and compost bins for the winter through adding collected leaves and food scraps. Projects suitable for all ages. Volunteers will get a final chance to taste some of the produce from our garden. Meet at FVCP’s Compost Site- enter the Park at Broadway and Mosholu Ave.
Our events are open to the general public. RSVP’s are encouraged for individuals or small groups. Space is limited so we ask that groups contact us at least 2 weeks in advance to schedule.
