Youth Run Farm Stands
Wednesdays from 2-7pm from July 12th- November 1st– at the Train Park at Orloff Ave and Gale Place.
Thursdays from 12-7pm from July 6th- November 16th– on the Corner of E. Gun Hill Road and DeKalb Ave. 
Wednesdays will include healthy cooking demonstrations and hands-on activities for the community.  Thursday’s market is being held in partnership with GrowNYC. Both markets will accept Cash, EBT/Credit/Debit, Healthbucks, WIC and FMNP checks. Fall Wetland Volunteers Days
Saturdays October 21st and November 4th meeting at 10am
Did you know there are only 98 acres of freshwater wetlands left in the Bronx and 56 of them are in Van Cortlandt Park? Volunteers will help with native species planting, removal of non-native invasive plants and trash clean up within Tibbetts Wetlands. Meet inside the park near the last stop of the 1 train at Broadway and W. 242nd Street.

Get Active Hiking Series in VCP
Please wear appropriate shoes and bring plenty of water and a snack for the hike.  All hikes meet at 10am.
October 21st, 25th Anniversary Hike: meet inside the park near the last stop of the 1 train at Broadway and W. 242nd Street.
November 18th, Seven Wonders of VCP Tour: meet at FVCP Compost Site- enter the Park at Broadway and Mosholu Ave.

Canoemobile with Wilderness Inquiry
Saturday October 21st from 1:30pm to 4:30pm
Join the Friends and Bronx Council for Environmental Quality for a fun afternoon of FREE canoe rides in 24 foot Voyageur Canoes with Wilderness Inquiry on VC Lake along with Children’s Activities.  Children, 17 and under, must have a parent/guardian present to sign a consent form.  Meet us at VC Lake near the Golf House- enter the Park at Van Cortlandt Park South and Bailey Ave. 

Volunteer Trails Restoration Crew
Saturday November 4th from 10am to 3pm

Crew Members will work alongside trails professionals, developing skills in various areas of trail construction while improving the various trails in Van Cortlandt Park.  Projects include building boardwalks, clearing waterbars and drainage swells and installing drainage dips.  No prior trails experience is necessary; all training will be offered in an on-the-job format.  Interested? Woodlawn Playground Beautification
Saturday November 4th from 10:30am to 1pm- Please Note New Start Time: 10:30am
Join the Friends and the Women of Woodlawn as we continue our efforts to beautify the area around Woodlawn Playground. Meet at Van Cortlandt Park East and just south of Kepler Avenue.

End of Season Celebration
Saturday November 18th from 10am to 1pm
Help with our final harvest to prepare the garden and compost bins for the winter through adding collected leaves and food scraps.  Projects suitable for all ages.  Volunteers will get a final chance to taste some of the produce from our garden.  Meet at FVCP’s Compost Site- enter the Park at Broadway and Mosholu Ave.

 

Our events are open to the general public. RSVP’s are encouraged for individuals or small groups. Space is limited so we ask that groups contact us at least 2 weeks in advance to schedule.
