5 Resolutions for 2014 from the Friends of Van Cortlandt Park

Happy Holidays from the Staff of the Friends of Van Cortlandt Park Bronx, NY

Happy Holidays from the Staff of the Friends of Van Cortlandt Park. Here’s to 2014!

We are so excited for the new year, that we are making our resolutions a little early this year.  The Friends of Van Cortlandt Park are looking forward to all that 2014 will bring as we continue to Bring Youth, Community and Nature Together.  For this new year, we are making the following five resolutions:

1.) The Friends will hire a Seasonal Trails Project Managerallowing us to complete more projects in our Trails Plan (to date we have completed 7 out of 21) and to expand our Volunteer Trails Crew and our Get Active Hiking Series.

2.) We will hire our second Summer Teen Trails Crew to work with our Trails Project Manager on significant trail restoration projects.

3.) We will expand our 8 week Youth Run Farm Stand at Amalgamated Houses to 12 weeks and continue our 19 week stand at Montefiore Hospital.

4.) We will increase the number of students that come to our Van Cortlandt Adventures program especially our Garden Explorations program now that we can host larger groups in our recently expanded Garden & Compost Site.

5.) And last but certainly not least,  we will get the previously promised Pedestrian Bridge to connect the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail in Van Cortlandt Park funded.   Visit our petition for more information and to show your support.  We are currently planning event for the Spring of 2014 to highlight the need for this bridge- details will be available soon.

The Friends of Van Cortlandt Park we would like to wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year!  Here’s to all that is to come in 2014!
